Hi, I’m Derek Amorim, a licensed agent with Amorim Health Advisors.
I’m passionate about helping my clients take better care of their health while saving hundreds or even thousands a year on their premiums.
Although I have experience with Marketplace and employer plans, my favorite solution is private, direct-to-consumer insurance because it helps individuals and their families get the coverage they deserve at a price they can afford.
This is possible because we can recommend build-your-own plans for each individual…which means you aren’t paying for others’ pre-existing conditions or health histories.
Private insurance is perfect for:
- People who make over $65,000/year and therefore overpay on the Marketplace
- Self-employed individuals, small business owners, and anyone without employer health insurance
- People who are healthier than their peers and can get lower rates on their own than with a group plan
- Anyone who is tired of dealing with the big insurance companies and wants to take their health into their own hands
Plus, I will be your personal agent and health advocate for the life of the plan, helping you navigate claims and save as much money as possible.
So, what are you waiting for? Let’s talk today and create a plan tailored to you.

Who is eligible for private health insurance?
Everyone is eligible to get private health coverage at any point. There is no limited enrollment period. The specific plans available to you will depend on health, age, and other factors considered in underwriting.
How much money could I save on one of these plans?
Our clients have saved hundreds and even thousands per month on the premium, let alone what we can help them save in the case of a claim. There are many variables that determine your individual savings, but it’s not uncommon to save over 40% compared to the Marketplace.
Will I have to share my personal health information during the Health Savings Assessment?
When looking for a private plan, your agent will ask some basic health questions so they can get a better idea of what plans you qualify for. This will allow us to present plans that give you the maximum value for your dollar. If you prefer not to share health information, we will only be able to recommend plans that don’t require underwriting, which provide less value per dollar.
What if I have a pre-existing condition?
Does this satisfy the minimum essential coverage requirement under the Affordable Care Act?
Most private plans are not ACA compliant. All that means is that there are a few uncovered items, such as drug and alcohol rehab, psychiatry, and maternity care. This typically results in cost savings for those who don’t need these services. If coverage for these services is important to you, we can explore ACA-compliant plans that include more coverage.
